Coming Home to Yourself
Have you ever caught yourself making excuses for why you don’t put yourself first? Maybe it’s the “I don’t have time” line, or “It’s easier to just let it go.”
Yeah, I’ve been there too. For years, I was the first to abandon myself—quietly, slowly, without realising I was doing it. Saying yes when I meant no. Shrinking so others could shine. Swallowing words that deserved to be spoken.
But something changed. Maybe it was exhaustion. Maybe it was the deep knowing that I deserved better—from myself.
I started listening to myself again. And now, I want you to do the same. You may already be doing this, if so, congrats!
Ego; But Suzy, isn’t choosing yourself a bit... selfish?
Soul; That’s the old conditioning talking. We’ve been taught that putting ourselves first means taking from others. But that’s nonsense. The truth is, the more we honour ourselves, the more we show up in the world with clarity, love, and strength.
Knowing something isn’t enough; transformation only happens when we act on what we know. Awareness is the first step, but without action, it remains just a thought, a possibility left unrealised. You can know that setting boundaries is important, but until you actually say “no” and enforce them, nothing changes. You can recognise that you deserve better, but until you step forward and claim it, you remain where you are. Honour isn’t just a concept—it’s a practice. The bridge between knowing and becoming is action, and that’s where true change unfolds.
So, let’s talk about how we can do this—how we can break the cycle of self-abandonment and step into self-honour.
5 Ways to Honour Yourself More Deeply
1. Speak Your Truth, Even If It’s Uncomfortable
How many times have you bitten your tongue to “keep the peace”? Honouring yourself means speaking what’s true for you—respectfully, honestly, and without apology.
2. Protect Your Energy—Like It’s Gold
Not everyone deserves unlimited access to you. Learn to say no without guilt. Recognise the people, places, and situations that drain you, and set boundaries accordingly.
3. Listen to What You Need—And Actually Give It to Yourself
Rest when you need rest. Laugh when you need joy. Pause when life feels too much. Honouring yourself isn’t just about self-care, it’s about listening to your soul’s whispers and answering them.
4. Celebrate Yourself—Not Just the Big Wins, But the Everyday Moments
Did you show up for yourself today? Did you do something brave, even in the smallest way? Acknowledge that. You deserve recognition—especially from yourself.
5. Own Who You Are, Fully and Without Hesitation
You are allowed to take up space. You are allowed to want more. You are allowed to say, I am here, and I matter. Honouring yourself means stepping fully into your presence, unapologetically.
Ego; That sounds freeing. But what if I forget? What if I fall back into old patterns?
Soul; Then you begin again. Self-honour isn’t about getting it perfect—it’s about choosing yourself, again and again.
Declaration:
I am done abandoning myself.
No longer will I shrink, silence, or neglect my own needs.
From this moment forward, I choose myself—fully, unapologetically.
I am the guardian of my soul, the keeper of my light.
I honour myself in every thought, every action, every breath.
I am home within myself, and I will never leave again.
Affirmation:
I am worthy.
I am whole.
I am enough exactly as I am.
I trust myself. I listen to myself. I stand in my power.
Every decision I make reflects deep love for myself.
I celebrate my existence. I honour my truth.
I am sacred, and I embrace myself completely.
Poem: "I Am Here"
I have wandered,
through storms that stole my voice,
through silence that told me I was too much, too little,
through moments where I turned away from myself.
But today—
today, I rise.
I gather every shattered piece,
every whisper I once ignored,
every part of me that longed to be seen.
I no longer abandon.
I no longer shrink.
I no longer let my own hands betray my heart.
I rise,
not for approval,
not for validation,
but for the sacredness within me.
I am here.
Fully.
Wildly.
Unapologetically.
And I will never leave myself again.
This is your journey, your choice, your power. And you deserve every moment of self-honour you allow yourself to embrace. 💛
In soul-unity,
Suzy Xx
