Turn the Microphone Around: Revealing the Real Suzy Cherub with Guest Host Lauren Newman

What do you really know about the woman behind the oracle?

You have heard her guide conversations, pull cards, and hold space for some of the most intimate and transformational exchanges on Ask the Oracle. But this week, the microphone turns around. And for the first time, Suzy Cherub becomes the one answering the questions.

Hosted by her dear friend and fellow South Coast local Lauren Newman, this special edition of Ask the Oracle is one of the most intimate, honest, and deeply human episodes the podcast has ever held. It is a conversation about origins, adversity, gifts, principles, and the hard-won wisdom that underpins everything Suzy does.

Born into Chaos, Shaped by Intuition

Suzy grew up in Canberra in a household that was loving but unstable. Her parents were young, passionate, and at times volatile. Parties were frequent. Chaos was constant. And Suzy, as the eldest child, learned early to read the energy of a room, to anticipate what was coming, and to trust the quiet voice within her above all else.

What could have been simply a difficult childhood became, instead, the very thing that awakened her gifts.

In one of the most moving moments of this episode, Suzy shares the story of the night she heard spirit speak clearly and directly. She was a child, lying in bed during one of her parents' parties, when she heard the words: Adam is drowning. She ran outside and pulled her baby brother from the pool. Fifty adults were nearby and none of them had noticed. Intuition, in that moment, was not abstract or spiritual. It was life-saving.

Life Before the Oracle

Long before Suzy became the psychic medium and spiritual teacher her community knows and loves, she was working multiple jobs, navigating relationships, raising children, and quietly weaving her spiritual curiosity into the fabric of everyday life.

From babysitting at thirteen and selling Avon catalogues, to high-level real estate sales and management roles in the public service, Suzy's early working life was varied, resilient, and always infused with that same intuitive undercurrent. She describes sitting with a grieving widow for an entire afternoon during a property appraisal, drinking cups of tea, listening to her stories, and eventually passing on messages from her late husband. It was never just a job. It was always something more.

Healing the Lineage

One of the most profound threads woven through this conversation is the value of doing deep ancestral and emotional healing work. Suzy speaks candidly about her own healing journey and why she believes lived experience is irreplaceable. It gives you compassion, resilience, and a quality of understanding that simply cannot be taught. It is the difference, she says, between knowing something intellectually and having felt it in your bones.

The Guru Myth

Suzy is refreshingly direct on the subject of guru worship and spiritual dependency. She is uncomfortable with pedestals, allergic to codependency, and deeply committed to guiding people back to their own inner authority rather than becoming a substitute for it.

She calls out spiritual bypassing with characteristic warmth and honesty. Real healing, she says, is holistic. It involves the whole person: mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Feeling better after a Reiki session is lovely. But if nothing in your patterns or beliefs actually shifts, you are simply being propped up. Her work asks more than that of people, because she believes they are capable of more.

What Is Coming

Suzy shares a glimpse into what is emerging, including two new oracle decks, with the Oracle of Becoming arriving in the first half of next year. A retreat in India in September. Yoga teacher training for her own personal journey. And a book that has been quietly waiting on the back burner for some time.

She closes the conversation with a gem of wisdom that is anything but small.

You can heal your own life. And you can consciously create a beautiful future, regardless of what came before.
